Weaver Grand Slam Scopes
« on: June 26, 2004, 08:22:32 AM »
I'm looking for a low power variable scope for my Marlin 336CS 35 Rem. I was gonna get a Leupold VXII 2-7x33. I saw the Weaver Grand Slam scope its a variable power 1.5-5x32 #800471. I think this scope may be just the ticket. I want a wide field of view when its turned down. How are these scopes? Thank's

NewYork.
I've had limted experience with Weavers, but they were all good scopes.  I have some friends that swear by them.  I don't think you'll go wrong with one.  The one your looking at sounds ideal for a 45-70.
Best,

July issue of Rifle Magazine has an article on scopes and discusses the Weaver Grand Slam a bit.  They indicated that it was a good scope.

I do not remember what the article said - it's at home - but it did discuss where varius scopes were made etc.

They are made in Japan.  Says so right on the scope.  It also is one of the best scopes for the money that I have seen.  I have a 1.5-5 on an 1895M and it has taken a pounding without a problem.  Optically it is as good as any of the Leupold, Nikon or Burris scopes that I have.
