I'm thinking about getting a long Swede but need a 100 meter rear sight.
My M96/38 has the ideal period-correct rear sight. I'll need another one if I set up a M96 for competition.
Does anyone know where I can find them?

Go to Samco Global Arms a look at their website they have them.  You may have to call them to get the right one.  I'm not sure but you may have to change the front sight blade too so its correct at 100 meters then the rear site will be correct thru to 600 meters when you crank it up.

BigBill.

I found the higher front sight blade at Samco but I couldn't find the rear.

Thanks.

I just looked and I didn't see any either, they had them pictured on their site for sale.  I would call them and ask if they have any left.   BigBill

Check out this link for John in CA:

http://www.swedejohn.com/index.html

Just check the index for "sight inserts".  Have bought Swede items from him numerous times.  He's got a great inventory, reasonable pricing and is super to deal with on Swede items.

Runs with scissors,
If all you want to do is shoot 100 meters, I think there's no reason to change the rear sight, just the front blade. They were set to zero in around 300 meters as issued.  Now, if allowed for competition, I would suggest looking into the "Mojo Sights" (rear replacement peep and front peep combination that fits existing milsurp dovetail and rear base.  I have them on my Swedish M38 and very easy to adjust on the rifle for elevation and windage with the included allen wrench.

Jim.

Thanks for your reply.
I have to shoot "as issued" when I compete with the Tri-City Military Issue Bolt Action Benchrest guys. The Metallverken Vasteras sight is acceptable. It is rare to find one set up for 100-300 meters. Mine is a 300 meter-plus with a "+1" front sight blade. I'd take another in an instant. I would flip if I found one of the 100-plus models.
THEY are goint to flip when I show up with my new M41B.
It is....."as issued", but I'd never push the issue.
I'm doing quite fine with my M38.

If you see one of these sights, please let me know.

The two Metallverken rear micrometer sites I have both are different and I'm not sure how many different ones there are.  One goes from 200 meters to 600 meters and the other goes from 100 meters to 600 meters. Both have 50 meter increments between the one hundered increments.
