Hi MN Joel, thought I would return the favor and visit your site   I finally got your post on the rimfire site answered every time I would get a reply just about typed out the phone would ring and I would get kicked off my computer. I Live in Northwestern WI so I guess you could say we are kinda neighbors :D I mostly fish brook trout in the summer but do like to fish other fish as well just seems I get out trout fishing more often. Besides them brookies taste awfully good.  :) Jim

Northwest Wiscony huh?  Thats where I spend the majority of my summer.  We have a cabin in Chicog, on Lower Mckenzie lake.  Its close to Webb Lake if you arent familiar with it.  I've been meaning to do some trout fishing and smallmouth fishing in the local streams but have been spending my time on the lake catchin bass.  Might hafta meet up with you in the summer and trade some hot spots!

MN Joel, Never heard of the place :) Just Kidding!! Actually kind of weird that you would mention that as I went to High School in Spooner WI and my 2 best friends (brothers) had a Uncle that owned a cabin on Big McKenzie Lake and we used it as a party place and did a lot of ice fishing in the winter time on the lake. I have not been there since the late 60's I graduated in 1970 so I do not remember the area well but do remember Big McKenzie was on the Washburn/ Burnett County border and I am guessing that Lower McKenzie is part or close to big McKenzie as it would be in the same area?  I do not have a Washburn or Burnett Co. map to look this up. I now live in Superior WI which is the county north of this area.  I remember that lake very well as the year 1968 I caught a 28 # Musky (Tiger Hybred) in the Yellow River which goes through Spooner WI ( summer time) My dad sent it to a Taxidermist to get mounted. I have that fish hanging over mycomputer as I type this. :-) The following winter Ice fishing with my friends on Big McKenzie I caught over a 11# closer to 12# Walleye. Now back in those days as in now that was a Big Walleye and I could not get it mounted as my dad had one fish getting mounted for me and he could not afford another. He was on SS so funds were tight some times and I was going to school and was not working  at the time so I could not do it either. Too darn bad as fish to fish size the Walleye was a better fish. This was before everyone started catching the hogs in Lake Superior so a Walleye that big was quite a fish. So yea I remember the area you frequent it gave up the biggest Walleye I ever caught and probably ever will. It is a nice area.  I would be up to meeting you and maybe wetting a line we will keep in touch. Jim

MNJOEL, You have me curious now Is lower McKenzie part of Big McKenzie or is it a different Lake? It has been so long since I have been there I do not remember. Jim

Lower, Middle, and Big McKenzie are all connected by creek.  And if I am correct on this, Lower McKenzie is north of the other two.  I guess someone was a little backwards in naming the lakes.

MN Joel, I guess it depends on which way they were looking when they named them :) :-D    Thanks for the info. One of these days I will have to take a ride there to check things out to see how it has changed since I was there I am sure there are some as it has been a long time.  Thanks again Jim
