forkthem2002: any defensive handgun, be it pistol or revolver with fixed sights should shoot to point of aim at 25 yds. If it shoots an inch or two high at 25 yds then the sights are probably regulated for 50 yds, as with the Gov't Model 45.
I'm not familiar with the Defender but it sounds like your front sight is too tall. However, before I would do anything to correct the point of impact I would try the piece with different loads. Possibly something a bit lighter, say 200 gn, might bring the point of impact up to point of aim but possibly not. Maybe it just needs to 'settle in', or 'break in'. If not, contact Colt for their advice or take it to a good gunsmith to have that problem corrected. HTH. Mikey.
