Building Knives?
« on: July 14, 2004, 07:41:04 PM »
You don't say whether you want to build one from scratch, or buy an already ground blade and add your handle to it etc.  Either way, if you're just starting out one of the usual knife supply houses should have all you need.  Try Texas Knifemakers Supply at http://texasknife.com, Sheffield Knifemakers supply( cant' recall their URL...their catalog is in PDF, or you an order one for around $5.00), Jantz supply at http://jantzsupply.com, Kovals, K&G etc are among some of the most common ones.  A good source for info on building them is at http://ckdforums.com.

cknight,
There's those ones Joel mentioned.  There's also those norwegian knives from varying sources - most places will sell either the whole knife or just the blade.  Those are a pretty good starter blade it you want a partial hidden tang - they look pretty cool on antler.  The laminated steel is also very, very sweet.
