Winchester Model 250 takedown

Hello all

Does anyone have the takedown instructions for this lever action .22 cal?  I should be able to use the instructions from the Model 150 or the 255 as they are similar, so if you have those I would appreciate takedown instructions for those models.

It is not ejecting properly (spent casing is extracted from chamber, but remains in receiver too long and jams with next bullet in line) and I would like to take it down for a cleaning.

I sprayed it enough to have the solution run clear (it started out gray) and will take it out today to test fire, but would rather go all the way and disassemble and clean thoroughly.

Has anyone worked on these and if so are there any parts that are tricky during re-assembly?

PS ... If I cannot find anything in a couple of days I will take it down anyways and make my own instructions with pics along the way, so if you are looking for instructions let me know and I will post them for you.

Here's a link to a parts blow up for this series rifle..  I've never seen a take down instruction for tham but they are pretty straight forward.  The parts blowup should give you all you need to take down for cleaning..

Thanks for the link!  I was kind of leery about taking it down without instructions as I did not want this to be that one time where parts came flying out when I started to disassemble.  Reading your posts over since I joined this forum and hearing you say that it was not that difficult gave me the comfort level I needed to try it (thanks for that!).

The the initial takedown was straightforward as you said, but I did not have to takedown the trigger assembly (it needed nothing more then a good spray of cleaner), so I did not get to learn that process.

The firing pin is broken and I have a new one on the way from WGP, so should be ready to go by this weekend.

PS .... I am going to document the takedown procedure for the Model 250 (sans trigger group disassembly) and will take digital pics as well.  The only trick to getting the firing pin out was that I had to first take out the extractor as they both use a ball and the same spring like the Model 190 does.

I was thinking of the wrong firearm  :oops:  :oops:  :oops:

It is the firing pin that was broken on the Model 250 and both the book and WGP lists the part as a firing pin.  Sorry for any confusion!

My brother's first rifle was a Winchester M270.  He is still using the rifle, along with others..  Glad to be of some little assistance..
