Hey guys, how're the bear stories?? A couple inches bigger this month? Oh sorry, I meant trout, not bear!
Just messin'!
Came across this forum by accident, (was looking for 500 S&W load data)
"Hunting in Alaska" forum, interesting indeed, 'bout time I'd say,(how long has this been going on?

Anyway, I shoot from Wasilla and love to  hunt, fish, shoot and reload.
Been here for 28 years and will not leave, not even on vacation, (vacation for me is a multi-game drop-off hunt for 2 weeks)

Read a lot of the threads and I think I have found "home"
Hope you guys don't mind if I sit by your campfire and warm up a little????

Welcome to the Alaska Forum.  I can't remember when we started it but it has been a couple of years.  I was one of the original pushers for the forum and was offered the job of moderating. Been here ever since.

We are actually open to anything Alaksan here.  Game control, uniquely Alaskans ideas, hunting, fishing, camping and much more.

Hope you find it a home here.

Thanks for the welcome guys,

Let's go fishin'!
I  guess the Kings are in, drove by the 3-Rivers tackle shop today and they have posted on the sign that a King Salmon had been caught on the Little Su, May 10th 33 lbs.
I promptly turned around and went in to buy my Pro-class derby ticket ($50) Derby starts on May 20th runs through July 13th.

Last year I made off with 1st and 3rd in the Pro-Class and 2nd in the overall, so I think $50 was well worth it, my dad beat me to the 4-wheeler that I wanted,(yeah he got 1st!)

proman 1,
Welcome! One of the things our fine moderator (daveinthebush) neglected to mention was that "newbies" ( really just an affectionate nick-name  ) must give up the location of at least one secret fishing and hunting "honey hole" immediately after posting the second time! Waiting with eagerness your next post!  :)
best,
bhtr

Aww man! do I have too tell youse guys?
Actually it's not much of a secret honey hole, "there is an army out that way, when the Kings are in"
I'll tell you anyway...about 20 miles north of the Willow Creek bridge, take a left on Resolute Dr. (I think),
mouth of Sheep Creek it's called and the locals are all very cool to "tresspassers" as long as they pack out their garbage with their fish,
last summer some anglers filleted their fish in the campground and threw the carcasses and guts in the dumpster (you see, they don't live here, so it's okay) you can imagine after 4 days of 75-80+ degrees what a nice smelly campground that was!!!!
To top it off all the fresh anglers that came around commented that the locals are a bunch of unclean redneck hillbillies who dump in their own front yard!!  huh! say whut!! but we din't......!!

Anyway I hope it was a lesson we can all learn from and keep it clean this time around!

I'll let you have 1 secret honeyhole (Big Rainbows and Grayling)

Take Hatcher Pass Rd. (Willow/Fishhook) from the Parks Highway
'bout 6 miles, hike down to Willow Creek and fish..(don't forget to take your Casull)
