What brand of brass for 454 Casull
« on: November 28, 2004, 09:38:24 PM »
I need to buy some brass for my newest acquisition (SRH in 454 Casull), and I was just wondering what brands other people use and prefer.

I've always had pretty good luck with Winchester brass in other calibers, so I'm kind of leaning that direction, but I'm also considering Starline. I can get the Starline quite a bit cheaper which is nice, but I don't have any experience with it and I don't want to try to save money and end up with something of poor quality.

Any thoughts, comments, suggestions, etc would be appreciated. TIA

Starline definitely.  I've had a batch of Winchester and they held up poorly with the high pressures from a 454.  Out of 100 cases, I'd say in total 30 or so spilt after the first firing, whereas with Starline, I've reloaded some cases 3-4 times and they're still goin' strong.  Have fun with your new cannon. :D   Patriot

:-D   KYsquirrelsniper,

Boy you don't waste any time using those 1/2 price dies!

I'm in agreement with the rest of the crowd - Starline Brass - all the way.  They have been my choice for quite a while.   A quality product for a good price - what more can you ask for?

I'm with the others, Starline's good stuff!
Also when you resize just size far enough down so the brass will chamber in your gun. Makes trimming alot less.
