Maryland and California law regarding TC's

Is it legal to import a TC pistol into these states if you already own it?  After moving there could you legally buy a G2 pistol?  

I know that both have some "testing" that a gun must pass and don't know the status.

Yes you can bring in a tc if you already own it.  

No, you can't buy one because they are not on the "approved" list.

Yes, there is a legal way around it.  Just have you mom or dad or blood relative give it to you for a gift.  Still have to register it and send it through an ffl but it is legal.

You can buy one in CA, but only as a private party transfer (face to face with prior owner), not a dealer sale.  As a result, TC guns command a premium in CA.
