I'm building an 8mm-06R Ack Imp on a Ruger #3 action. The thought occurred to me, "Could this be the world's *first* 8mm-06 that is *NOT* a rechambered military rifle???"

Does anyone on this forum know of a purpose-built ("bespoke", the English would say :-) 8mm-06? Every one I've ever seen, or even heard about, was a Mauser military rifle that had been rechambered.

Buff; I am owning an customized Mark X Mauser in 8/06 Ackley IMP.for a while .still doing load work up,as the rifle was prev.owned and not built to my order.. Enjoy :roll: littlenate

It might very well be the first Rimmed version. I assume that is what the R stands for?

Yup, it be rimmed.

As it happens, it isn't really an 8mm-06 any more. I can't find "rimmed .30-06" brass, so I've changed to the 7X65R Brenneke brass, to which I'll blow out the taper, blow the shoulder forward about .100", and neck up to 8mm. It will be nearly 7mm Rem Mag capacity. I think I'll call it the "8X65R Haeme Mor" which would be big stick (club) or big hammer in Scots Gaelic, according to a Gaelic friend of mine ;-)

I reckon it'd be unique *then*!!!

It sounds like your wildcat will be a rimmed version of the old Swedish 8mm service rifle/machine gun round. It too used an 7.92mm bullet in a souped-up 8mm case.
