How much Clearence?
« on: June 03, 2004, 03:05:25 PM »
How much clearence between the front end of the scope and the barrel?  I have about 2 business card thicknesses.  Should I go to the next height level on the rings.  Thanks, Mike.

That's plenty of clearance Mike. IMHO the lower the better as long as you can see through the scope without crunching your cheek on the stock comb.

I agree...that's plenty of clearance.

As long as the scope is not touching the barrel, you're just fine!

I have a couple of rifles that have had the scope covers ground off at the bottom so they would still go over the scope. The closer the better.  KN

Me too! :)  :)  :)

Actually, I cut off the bottom part of the cover so that it would fit.

That's funny.  I though I was the only one that would do something like that. :)

Sorry guys, but you're not alone, I have 2 scopes mounted so low I had to cut a slot in the bottom of the cover so they would fit, one of em is my elite 4200 on my CZ452 17hmr. The other is a brand I can't mention.

Thats Funny...  That is why I asked the question, because the scope cover would not fit.  I was thinking that I would have to cut the covers somehow so it would go on.  Thought maybe the scope was too close to the barrel, so I would ask here before I did it.  Thanks, I feel at alot better.  Mike
