Just found out That Augustine Sanchez also won both High power guns. So that gives him all 4 this year. Now thats some fine shootin. Congrats to him.

It is with great pleasure that I write this post.  Mr. Sanchez is a class act second to none.  He is humble in victory and gracious in defeat.  That is much more than can be said for some of the usual suspects that shoot this sport.

The fact that he has won all 4 rifle silhouette matches at the NRA Nationals this year should afford him quite a sponsorship.  Will the sponsors step up to the plate like they would for a Tubb?

I’ve shot with Augustine for several years and can say he has always been a gentleman, sportsman and fine friend.

Congratulations Mr. Augustine Sanchez and thank you for your fine sportsmanship!!!

All four? Good grief! That's got to be a first and unlikely to be repeated anytime soon except, perhaps, by Mr. Sanchez. Just incredible.
Can anyone share scores and the placings of some of the other top people? Dan did you trophy?

I squaded with him and Tony Tello. I'm sure anyone who had the pleasure to speak with Augustine, came away with something positive and learned something from this great shooter.
I too want to see some sponsorship for him. It's a sure thing for those sponsors since he will dominate this discipline for many years to come.
I also am proud of myself winning the AA Hunter aggregate at Raton by one point.
Also pleasure meeting Nomad, and CHunter there.

Hello everyone, in Smallbore Standard Agustin won with 110, Cathy was second with 107 and I am not sure who won the three way shoot-off for third place with 102.  
In SBH Agustin won with 106, Cathy Winstead was second 102 and William Motl won third place with 101.
In HPS Agustin won with 101X120, William Zander got second place overall with a 96 and Dennis Martinen was third with ?.
In HPH Agustin won with 90X120, William Motl got Second with 83 and Tony Tello third with 82.

I wonder if Mr Tello would indulge those of us who try so hard at this game with how Agustin trained to prepare for such a performance. Both physically and mentally.

Hello CB, there was very little practice done  by Agustin this year since he was either in school learning to be a chef or working.  

He shot a couple of State matches before going to the Nationals and lost both Standard rifle classes and won both Hunting rifle classes.  

There was no long range plan to try to win all four Championships or at least we did not talked about it, although Agustin is the type of person that does not tend to put limits on what he can do.  

At the Nationals he wanted very much to win the SB Standard rifle match since he had won it twice before and once he accomplished that it was easier for him to focus on trying to win the other three.

I'm sure many would like to know the training background and training methods of someone who could turn in such a dominating performance at such an early age. When and how did he start? I've heard he shoots a lot of airgun. How much live fire and how frequently? Is he really that new to highpower? What does he think of HP vs. smallbore? Did he train alone or with a coach? That kind of thing. Most of us would like to know how the best got there. I don't want to impose on Mr. Tello. Some shooters are "private" people who prefer not to chat about how they train. Perhaps Nomad snagged an interview.

Hello ajj and everyone else, there is going to be an article about Agustin in the future for USA shooting sports and Nomad is going to do it, in the mean time read the articles that were written about Agustin last year, that will give you an idea of what he has done to prepare himself.

Agustin is fairly new to HP and he only shoots a handful of matches a year, to my knowledge he has only fired eleven matches this year and that includes the six he fired at the Nationals and four he shot at the CA state match, the other one was fired at a memorial match in Phoenix were he won it with a 35.  He does not own HP rifles and uses equipment borrowed from his friend Modesto Castillon who has procured top equipment for Agustin to use.

He used the same rifles he used last year in Standar rifle competition and for Hunting he used a .22 rifle that Mark Pharr put together and in HP he used one that Mr. Marvin Pearson had built.  

 Mr. Lones Wigger said Agustin was a “natural” shooter and I agree with him, in my opinion Agustin is the kind of shooter that appears once every generation and I consider myself extremely fortunate to be associated with him and to be able to witness this amazing kid perform.

Congratulations to both of you, Tony. It also takes a great coach to develop someone to his or her full potential, so you have a share in this. My only regret was not being able to be roomates with you and Agustin this year. I hope to see you both here in Tucson for the International shoot.
