Encore Barrel in .280-Need Load Data
« on: May 27, 2004, 04:14:49 AM »
My new .280 encore barrel will be arriving in a couple of days.  It is sporter taper, 26", stainless.  It will be used for whitetail hunting.  I hand load for many 7mm class guns, so I have many different powders, primers, and bullets on hand.  I could literally try thousands of combos.  I don't have that kind of unlimited time, so I am hoping that someone could give me a good starting point for working up a load for this barrel.

Thanks for any help.

Try a 140 Gr Nosler Ballistic Tip over IMR-4350..........Excellent velocity and very accurate.

Any loading info for the .280 shown in a reloading manual will be functionally OK for the Encore.  Take your pick..

My most accurate load to date in a .280 Encore was IMR 4350 and the 175 Hornady round nose.  This bullet is also the most accurate I've tried in my Ruger M77 7x57.
