Did a little work on a friends eaa over/under 12/.223 to lighten the rifle trigger.  It's a sturdy gun without a lot of frills but he thinks it is well worth the money.  Don't worry about miss fires! That thing has springs in it that look like they came from under the front end of a car!  The rifle barrel was not very heavy and tended to heat up quickly but he is pleased with the first and second round accuracy. Sights were a bit crude but work, he had a scope mounted.  Wood is nothing fancy, but again it works.  Bottom line, the gun is nothing fancy but like most things Russian it gets the job done.

The baikals are built pretty good.  I've shot several shotguns I currently only own 1 (an MP-153 3.5 inch auto) and never had a problem.  They are not the best fit/finish but they work.  Remington just contracted with them to import shotguns singles, sxs and o/u's.  I don't know how that will affect EAA.  But I think all the rifles will still go through EAA.

I caught up with a shooter on the range that has one in 30/06 and he's more than satisfied in it. Asked him about the accuracy and he said it was horrible until they sorted the 10lb trigger pull. Since then its a 1.5MOA shooter. Not bad considering the price as here in Australia they're much cheaper than a H&R, I'm strongly considering buying one myself.
Cheers...

Never shot the rifles, but have the side by side in 12 and 20 gauge. Both have been totally reliable.

i am eagerly awaiting to get one of those gere in TX.
I used a 6.5 Swede single shot break open made by Baikal on a hunt in Siberia. Only had one box of ammo, so i shot 6 rounds for target practice. 2-2.5" group with open sights. I don't know what model it was. Nice working rifles, nothing fancy, excellent quality for the price, i would rather buy a Baikal than a NEF. A gunsmith will fix the heavy trigger for you.
