range report on .223 bull barrel
« on: May 28, 2004, 02:53:46 AM »
I put my .223 barrel on my NEF. First problem was the barrel was too thick for the standard fore end. I purchased a survivor fore end from H&R . did some sanding and installed and o ring. I broke in the barrel by running a patch with JB paste through it. Cleaned - shot 10 rounds. cleaned, scrubbed with JB paste again. cleaned again. Now I got serious. Tried several load variations. The result was a .378 group at 100 yards. WOW  THAT WAS THE BEST I EVER SHOT . Those barrels are amazing for the price. I'm a happy camper. :-D
