I have been thinking of getting a .45Win Mag they say it gets 44Mag velocitys.Should be a good round.

If you handload you can do the same with a 45 colt and have a rimmed case. In the contender I like to use a rimmed case if possible.  8)

Had a fellow show up at a steel plate match with one. He shot six times and had six steel tacos!!!
The rest of the match got canceled!

PJ, I've had both the .45WinMag and .45Colt.  The Colt wins hands down.   Rimmed case....More powder capacity....Much better w/ 300+gr bullets....More plentiful(cheaper ) brass.  The only advantage I could give the WinMag is if you already load for .45ACP and not the Colt, you wouldn't have to buy dies. However it is a powerful round!

I have had a 45 win mag 14" for awhile and i really like it.It shoots 3/4" groups at 75 yards if i do my part.I enjoy shooting it just as much as my 44 mag barrel. 8)

I use the 45 Win mag with iron sights (with fiber optics) and I like it a lot. It is accurate and can be downloaded to 45 auto velocities with lighter bullets to shoot to about the same point of impact. Probably the 45 colt is a better choice, but I like having something different.

I have a carbine chambered for this round. Being a rimless, it is ideal for a semi-auto or lever application, IMO. I don't think I would load 45 colt brass to the same pressure, but people do. For a TC, I guess it isn't any better or worse than the colt.

Wonderful round, I only wish someone would chamber a CZ clone in it. Unfortunately, everyone seems to think the 10mm is magical or something.

One thing, starline brass has a standard 45ACP style rim. Win brass has a different dimension, and you will need a special shellholder for it, and likewise some bolts (in semis) prefer one or the other. Lee shellholder is number 2A, while the 45ACP shellholder is number 2. RCBS may or may not offer a special shellholder.

Aside from that, you can load it with a combination of 45 colt and 45acp dies.
