synthetic stock
« on: September 24, 2003, 01:57:40 AM »
Hi,
I am in the market for a synthetic stock set for the Contender carbine.  What is good?  I see that Bell and Carlson makes a thumbhole.  Does the thumbhole stock interfere with cocking the hammer?  It has an extension on it, already.  Thanks for your input.

Thumbhole stocks are a love/hate situation.  You'll either love it or hate it. I had one on my contender when I first got a carbine barrel for it, but sold it off after the first range session with it.  The problem with the thumbhole is you have to remove your hand form the grip to cock the hammer or if your using a rest under the forend you can use your off hand.  I found it impractical, love the looks but give me a regular buttstock every time.
