What is a Postal Match anyway? How do I get involved in it? Does it cost money or anything? Could sombody fill me in on everything about this Postal Match thing? Thanks guys Just kinda interested and it sounded kinda neat.

There's a sticky at the top of Misc. H&R chat with the rules. Only cost is the amount of ammo you burn up, some file cards, and the price of a stamp. We shoot on 3"x5" file cards so they will fit in an envelope. You can add an aiming point that suits you and you can shoot until you have a card you are happy with.

This is more of a personal achievement thing than a contest. Get a card that you are happy with and show it off. A beginner who gets five shots on a card with factory ammo may have more to be proud of than oldtimers with sub half inch groups. I was sorely disappointed that due to gun troubles I could not enter some cast bullet groups. I don't expect to "win" with cast against jacketed, but I can get some results I am proud of.

About the postal match?

Is the handgun calibers at 50yds. or 100yds? Were they 100yds this last match? And they all are five shots groups right?

I have a NEF Handi Rifle in .223. Is there yardages and such for rules and regulations? I think you told me to check the stickys, I'll check there, Thanks for the info. :grin:

Pistol calibers must be shot at no less than 50 yards, rifle calibers at 100 yards. Your .223 will need to be shot at 100 yards.

You can use optics, and any kind of rest you want.

As posted above, this is a VERY informal match. The only hard and fast rules are the yardages, and that you can only enter H&R/NEF single shot break action rifles and slug guns.

We basically just like to do this to show what these "cheap" guns are capable of.
