I have heard of some rounds such as 14 flea, a 10something. Would anyone have links or info on this really small stuff? Thanks in advance :D

check out saubier, I think that is how its spelled. they have lots of small caliber info.

I've an article on the .14 Walker (14 based on Hornet case) that appeared in an Australian mag a year or so ago. I could scan it and send if your really interested.

shooter444002 is right. www.saubier.com is the best place to go to find out about the things that are around that are less than .22 cal. Alot of guys that shoot the .20 cals. the .17 cals. and afew shooting .14 and .12 cals. If you`ve got a question on the sub. cal. this is the place to get it answered.

I saw a Thompson contender set up at a gun shop once and wondered why the barrel didn't have a hole in it.  On closer inspection it had a .14 bore.  Don't know what it was chambered for but it looked like a good rat killer.

Personal opinion here is that anything much under .17 cal.
does not have a whole lot of serious hunting applications.
That said though, ANY cartridge is fun to shoot!!!!
The smallest bore I have seen is a 2.7 MM.
It was a tiny Semi-auto pistol called a COLIBRI.
and the guy only had about ten rounds for it.
I have a custom built .17 caliber Muzzle loading carbine.
(Fires lead BB's) WHY ? you ask,--- I have no Idea!
It simply seemed like a neat thing to build at the time!

That seems to be the deal with little bores. Not good for much but it may be a great rat gun, and great for conversation. I thought i read somewhere about shooting flys and stuff with i think a 10 flea or something :lol:

Regarding the sub-calibers. The 17Rem took off in Australia as it arrived right about when fox skins where taking off. The sub-calibers are very useful in reducing skin damage, and with skin prices on the rise again, increased interest is again being shown over here. "Not good for much" I think is a little harsh... they do have a role to play but it is a specialised one that's for sure.

i would agree. The only reason i said that was that the article i read at saubier.com was talking about shooting pidgeons with the 14 and things of this size. The 14 or 10 would definately take special everything ( brass,bullets,guns,reloading equip, all this special stuff to me personally is pretty expensive to shoot a pidgeon. I would love to shoot a 10 or 14 though and not good for much was a little harsh, but as someone said before calibers below 17 just havent caught on very well. Yes the sub calibers have a very special purpose and i would love to have one. I would also love to have a muzzleloader that shoots BB's just because i dont have one nor have i ever seen one.I have to admit if a person had the money a 10 or 14 would be pretty neat. The 17Rem is definately not in same class as the 10's or 14's :D

I built that Muzzle loader from an old brass
air rifle barrel ! I basically threaded the end of the barrel
and screwed in the nipple (inline style).
Stock & Lock are very simply made.
A #11 cap with no powder will send a lead BB along
at a pretty good velocity!  
I think Cabellas now has a .17 caliber Muzzle loading pistol
that shoots lead BB's .
I know it sounds crazy, but i'm in it for the "fun".
My next project is a "bowling ball mortar"
I have seen those on other forums and it just looks too
fun to pass up!

I'm gonna build a bb muzzleloader  :toast: Let me know how the bowling ball mortor works out. Its all about fun and that isnt expensive to play :D

Started with a .17 CCM years ago and then went to the .14 Walker Hornet.....great for small pests and P.D.'s.   When I go back and start shooting my 22 K-Hornet it really seams like a BIG bore.....Hal :lol:

I was once making fun of the tiny sub-calibers as being good rounds for
bumble-bees, but not much use for anything else. A certain custom bullet
maker informed me that he made a one shot kill using a neck shot on a
small deer with one of his .14's!  That is not to say it makes a good deer
rifle, but some of the little mini-pills could certainly turn out to be fantastic
varmint rifles for those wanting to sell the furs.
