There is a thing going around on the net calling for a week of no to low gas purchase for the week of June 1st, to June 7th,
The point is to protest with our wallet's. By cutting back on gas use it will send a massage to "Big Oil" :x and the Arab's :x
I am sure all of you good folks have seen the "GAS" post on the board here. It shows the oil companys that do not use Arab oil in there gas. If you cant cut back on your gas needs then please give the Companys that don't use Arab oil your trade that week, and every week if you can.
The following do not buy Arab oil: CITGO, SUNOCO, CONOCO, BP/ PHILLIPS, SINCLAIR, and HESS. :grin:
REMEMBER, every penny we as Americans can keep out of the hands of the Arab Oil Countrys the better off we all will be. These terrorist groups benefit from that money both directly and indirectly. :evil:
Our Nation's son's and daughters are over there fighting for us, lets fight for them with our dollars here!
It is obvious our Politicions cant or wont do anything but talk about it and try to cut each others throat's
It is up to all of us as individuals to act !

From what I read, a week of less driving wouldn't make a small dent in the price of gasoline.

I got a Chevy C-2500 3/4 ton myself. Big boy's drive Big toy's

At 299 lbs, I need a dang shoehorn to get into a standerd ride, and be comfortable.

Mine has the big overdrive tranny, so it's good on the gas!

Just gotta keep my lead foot out of it! :lol:
The thing is a tank, and I love it. I feels good knowing that if I am in a accident, odd's are good Im gonna walk away.
I have nothing against small cars an trucks, My big ol butt just cant fit into them to well :-D Life ain't easy when your as thick as me!

I do agree with you on what you said though. It might not make that much of a mark, but it's doing something other than just talking about it! We got plenty of "chin music" going on in Washington as it is! :x
If enough people would not buy gas that week it would show up in the oil companys #'s that week.
Thats why they have bean counters on the payroll ! :wink:
If folks stop trading at stores that sell gas made from Arab oil, and switch that will show up too. :?
Its all about the MONEY shorty. The bottem line will show it every time!

Why only a week and why wait till June? All that will show the oil companies is that you can only last a week without their products and they can just sit back and relax till you stop buy the following week to wait in line and fill up on an empty tank.

For anything to be meaningful it would require it to be long term and practical response.

Now lets take a look at the big and small vehicle question. Actually I think Matlock's guzzler would be considered rather efficient if you considered the amount of cargo it is capable of hauling around. If you squander your load capacity the smaller vehicles will beat you in efficiency. However if you coordinate you trips and cargo to optomize for your larger vehicle I think they will come out ahead. If you have to haul cargo, that can't be handled in the compact range, that will also enter into the comparison. Like how many bales or hay or how much manure can be carried per trip in the compact.

It's just a matter of efficient useage.

Like how many trips in a Suburan does it take to haul 9 passengers the same distance compared to a subcompact that only seats 4.

Your reasoning is correct, but as I drive my Nissan P/U to work, I see the road full of four wheel drive, V8 driven, SUV's and 3/4 ton P/U's that NEVER haul a load, besides the driver, or go off-road, going down the highway into the city. It's a status symbol or macho image, which is OK, as long as the owners don't bitch about the price of fuel!

I agree, but it's really sorry to have to listen to them complain about the price of fuel.

I got a mobile hunting camp, an old 34' motorhome that I tow my jeep behind, that gets between 5 to 7 MPG and less uphill. If I had to haul all that extra water, supplies and other gear in a pickup to make for a similar comfortable camp, it would take way too many trips and I think I would use a lot more fuel than my single trip.

Just exactly what the hail are people talking about with this "don't buy gas for a week and let our voices be heard" manure? I live on a fixed income and my truck (an S-10 that's good on gas) sits in the driveway 80% of the month because there isn't enough money to buy the gas to go places! Does anyone think not buying gas will draw attention to the fact that gas prices are too high? If that were true how come no one has noticed I can't afford to drive all over the place and give me money? Ok, I vented with sarcasm and feel better.......

Let's face reality. Gas prices are high but people will pay it simply because it is necessary to drive to work, the store, the in-laws, the forest to go hunting, and in my case to the range to shoot cheapo .22 ammo (the only activity I have now). Oil companys know this simple fact, people need gas and will complain loudly.............. as they continue to pay for it.

CONOCO,CITGO,SUNOCO,SNICLAIR,B P /PHILLIPS, AND HESS OIL, DO NOT USE MIDDLE EAST OIL IN THERE PRODUCTS.
By trading with them you take money out of the hands of the Arab oil countrys!
The above companys buy there oil from the US,CANADA, CENTRAL AND SOUTH AMERICA.
According to the US dept of energy 2004, oil companys have to state where they import there oil from.
I just thought it would be good to support these companys, and take a few dollars out of the hands of people who support terrorism.
The Arab's hate US but love our money.

It's not about what you drive, or your mileage. It's about keeping every dollar we can out of there hands. They are buying bullets to fire at our troops with that money. Maybe not directly, but it is supporting them none the less. Think about it!
