How are the turkeys faring where you guys got blasrted with all the snow? I would think it made it very tough for them and the deer.  I have been seeing a few out in fields here lately foraging. Only about 2 and a half months guys and it is time to start persuing them. I hope there are enough left to persue

Bubbba,

I've been seeing more and more lately. At least they can walk on top of the crusted snow. I've seen them a lot out in fields that have just been "spread" feeding. I think they will do okay, they are a tough bird. A few years back a friend of mine found about 20 dead birds under a roost tree. It was just after a real cold snap that was preceded by a day or so of light drizzle. Our deer herd had a rougher time of it last year, but the turkeys usually fare pretty well. I used to hunt turkeys spring and fall with a passion for years. When I started the state just opened up the seasons. Now everybody and his bro do it. It cut into my spring flyfishing and fall duck hunting too much so I gave it up; I just don't have all the time I used to.

glad to hear they are still hanging in there. They seem to hold their own. I was 6 nice beards in a field together yesterday morning picking in the spread manure. I hope I see one when May comes. Or actually I hope my 13 year old daughter sees one come May.

Seems there are more than last year here in Fulton County, seems the winter didn't bother them much, no frozen pipes,
Hope they lose their calander for the next month or so.

They are really moving now. I watched a Tom chase some jakes off  hens in the field and now seeeing Toms and a few hens alone. They seem to be moving fast this year. Surprises me since we have not had any good weather yet.

Went out both Saturday and Sunday where I live in the Southern Tier of NY. Both days never heard a peep until around 8:00 AM. Talked to birds for both days. Got plenty of answers but than real hens cut me off.
Real hard to convince those boys to come to you when the real ones are willing to go to them.
