Where can I obtain a not to costly fanny pac that doesnt look like it screams GUN? I currently need it just now simply becouse I am disabled and currently wear sweats and the pockets on these things are horrendious. I would also neew a maker who has no provlem customizing his pruduct to accomidate my large waist sige and be able to cut it doen as I start to loose the weight Cuttendly I weigh in the area of 400 pounds and have a 68-70" waist so the belt needs to acconddate that and adjust down to slightly smaller sizes as time goes on I may also need a bit of extra room to put it over a coat od heavy clothe so it needs to go a bit bigger than the waist size by maybe 3 or 4 inches. Does anybody know of anybody who can or will do this. The guns I would be carring would be a variety of j frames sized revolvers (taurus, smith and a charter arms undercover) and my Officers acp model 45 1911a1. Any help or advice where I can find what I need? thanks in advance.

I saw a pretty unique device a little while back in a magazine.
It looked just like a folded news paper!
Tuck it under your arm and no one would know the difference!
I am considering getting one for myself.
I will post again when I find the article!

Quite seriously, Wal Mart carrys a great line of everyday belt packs.  I have one in nylon and one in black leather.  I don't think either of them cost me $10. and they are in every sense of the word , "every day".  They fit my lock 23 and a spare mag easily. Hope this helps  :D

eagle makes the best so far, it is snatch proof, it has to built in snap keepers to keep it tight against the body when wearing a belt to keep it from flopping  and it doesnt print at all or sag, and is warranty for ever

But will they customize one to work with my unique waist size? 72" ?
thats part of the problem finding one with a belt big enough since all I wear these days are sweats due to my disability.

I saw a guy wearing one in San Francisco about a month back that did not scream "GUN".  It was pink.

I have 2 friends who recently decided to use fanny packs to carry their guns in. Both bought fanny packs with zipper closures to the carry compartment. One fanny pack even had a velcro retainer inside that holds the gun in an easy to grab position......... but still had a zipper closure.

So, since these guys decided on a fanny pack I did some thinking about this method for gun concealment. Previously I dismissed this method simply because it was just one more thing I'd have to keep track of and try not to bump into things. Plus with a gun in there it had better not ever be left unattended, not even inside my own house since home invasions only take a moment and it is easy to zip in, snatch a purse or fanny pack, and zip back out. I'd also decided messing around with a zipper just to get to the gun was unacceptable.... and velcro might be a bit quicker but would still be something extra to mess with. Also... either a zipper or velcro closure might need 2 hands to open reliably...... one hand to pull the zipper/velcro open and the other to steady the fanny pack. Not only that but during the draw from a fanny pack that pack can move around making the draw not as precise as it needs to be......... or the pack can get in the way while the gun is being drawn. My conclusion is that a fanny pack, although it does provide a way to carry concealed... even might allow a full sized gun to be carried concealed, has too many drawbacks for me to seriously consider as a viable solution......... especially when holster carry, or inside the waistband carry, or pocket carry, puts the gun right to hand immediately and only one hand is needed to grab and draw with no added fumbling involved. Granted holster/IWB/pocket carry sometimes is difficult to pull off because the gun (especially a full size gun) is a bit harder to conceal than inside a fanny pack........ but to me the focus should be to have a gun readily accessable and maybe not perfectly invisibly concealed, not have the focus on making sure the gun is invisible but difficult to get at.

In all fairness though fanny pack carry in some circumstances might be the only way a gun could be carried concealed. Perhaps a physical disability..... or mode of dress...... or where a person is (nudist colony? My weapon is in the fanny pack, everyone can plainly see my gun?) would preclude any other method of concealed carry.

Those are just my thoughts........ and certainly open to being discussed.

Fanny pacs like all other means require motor skills to use them which is gained by practice, the eagle model which is by the far the best i have ever used has a nice pull cord attached to the zipper to allow a fast rip of the pac to opep it, and is quite fast under practice,  it has a nice holster that is adj inside the pouch that holds the gun while ripping the pac open,  i ran a ccw class using mainly fanny pacs for a lot of the individuals there and we tested 6 or 7 pacs all were in favor of the eagle pac, it was the most secure, most rugged, and most user friendly out of them all,  it held the gun secure while running with the pac open!!!!!!!!!!!  it isnt cheap it cost about 60 bucks but it is money well spent,  i use it alot while ice fishing, hiking, and fishing,  or were a conventional holster wouldnt be well suited

I have to currently wear sweats due to my disability. this leave no belt and few poskets  and no useable waintline to carry ANYTHING including my wallet, keys, maglight, leatherman, etc! The gun is a last minute item and NOT the most important thing in the bag. Its only a possible use when necessary not a primary carry mode! I need an adjustable fanny pac that does'nt scream gun will let me carry my needed equipment and sometimes a firearm but NOT always. Most times I have more need of my wallet and keys than a 1911!! thanks for your advice
Sincerely

Deaf Smith.... I know I made a joke about fanny packs in my post... but the reasons I gave for my personal decision that a fanny pack wasn't a viable method of concealed carry for me were made in all seriousness. So even though I sprinkled a bit of humor in I treated your question as a serious one.

I suspect that the question of which brand/style/what features/price of a fanny pack that would fit your needs is going to be the same kind of thing as choosing a carry gun. Shopping around will be necessary.

As for needing more belt length....... it should be relatively easy to take a length of nylon belt that matches the one on the fanny pack and have a seamstress (or sew them in yourself) add plastic buckles to match the ends of the fanny pack belt so you end up with an extension. That extra belt length could be taken from an old duffel bag as long as the ends that snap in match the ones on the fanny pack belt. That would work if the manufacturer of the fanny pack isn't willing to just send you a belt of a length you specify.
