I was going to suggest a (stainless steel) Ruger handgun but you've already got one. So my next suggestion would have been a Savage Striker(if legal in your state for deer), except you said you want a rifle. My next suggestion, therefore, is a Handi' in .308 that can be loaded with cast and jacketed, depending upon the range to the target. The Lyman 'M' die allows easy loading of cast bullets, and the .308 is the most accurate Handi', I would expect, in a rifle/deer caliber that is legal in most states. National Bullet Company in n.e. Ohio sells 165 gr' hardcast bullets for .308 caliber. I use their 265 gr' hardcast in a .44 mag' with excellent results.
Take care.
