Any of you all use 700X for light loads in 45 colt.??
I got some left over from loading 12 guage and I thought it might be a good way to use it up.

700X is a great powder that is highly overlooked. I use it in 38 spl, 357mag. 44 Rem Mag, 44/40 win, 45acp, and shotgun loads. Give it a try and you will be happy with both the cost and performance.

Thanks for the reply. 700X has always done well for me in shotgun loads although it is not the cleanest burning powder. I think thats why a lot of people shy away from it.

Went to the range today,shot 6gr. of 700x with a 200gr. bullet in my Marlin 45LC.The load shot a ragged hole at 50 yrds.

Thats interesting RayO.
I loaded some up with 5.7 grains under a 250 swc and was getting about the same ragged hole at around 40 yards the other day. I was getting a fair amount of blow by and was going to up the charge a bit to see if the blow by stops. I used 5.7 because it is the starting load shown in the manual. I was also very supprised by the accuracy of the light load.
Were you having any blowby

There was very little blowby.
