Bushell Elite 4200 6-24x vs. Burris Fullfield II 6.5-20x
« on: June 07, 2004, 06:55:35 AM »
I've read almost every post in the last few months that has comments on either Bushnell or Burris scopes.  The consensus is that the Elite 4200 is a great scope and the only Burris complains were either on old scopes or the customer service.  However, it seems that most of the talk was about lower power scopes, and not the higher power scopes used for varmint hunting and longer range target shooting.
I'm looking for a varmint scope for my Bushmaster Varmiter.  I currently have a Simmons Pro50 2.5-10x that I picked up at a pawn shop for cheap.  However, its hard to spot any critters past 100 yds with the Simmons.  I want to use the scope for target shooting (100-250 yds) and "varmiting".  I've narrowed it down to the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24x and the Burris Fullfield II 6.5-20x.  The Bushnell is a 40mm and the Burris is a 50mm however.
I know a lot of people here have the Bushnell scopes and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience/comments on the higher power versions of either of these scpoes.
Thanks!

I have several scopes in the magnification range: Burris Signature 6-24X44, 2-Leupold 6-20X40EFR, Zeiss Conquest 6-20X44, Leupold 6-20X50 LRT, Sightron S-II 6-24X42, and 4-Bushnell 4200 6-24X40.  They are all really good scopes.  The Bushnell and the Burris are VERY close optically with the Burris optics very slightly better.  I'm sure it is a good scope but I wouldn't think the Burris 6-20X50 FF-II would quite be in the same class as any of these scopes.  Between the two you mentioned, I'd pick the Bushnell Elite 4200 6-24X40.  You might add the Sightron to your list.  40 inches of w/e adjustment compared to 30 inches for the FF-II and 26 inches for the 4200.  If shooting at longer ranges, that might come in handy.

I would look at and consider the Nikon Monarch 6.5-20x44.  I believe that it is slightly better than both the Bushnell Elite 4200 and the Burris Fullfield II.
