Suggest you start here  Blackpowder Mortar and Cannon shooting FAQ's

Then look here for your barrel http://www.bigskysurplus.com/

Jim: I noted that DD suggested you contact Big Sky Surplus in an effort to find a 40 m/m barrel.  If anyone would have one, Big Sky should.  Only one problem with them, I have wanting some stuff from them and have sent numerous e-mails over the past seven months also made numerous phone calls and they still have not yet answered any of the e-mails or returned even one phone call.  If you are able to contact them please let me know so that I know that they are really still in business.  Hope you have luck finding your barrel and that you'll let me know about them.  Nice having you on this forum.  You'll really enjoy it and get lot's of GOOD information.  Blaster (Bob in CO)

Yeah Jim, it's like current business ethics have slipped by the wayside in today's businesses.  Sounds like you are having the very same type luck getting a price from your Kalifornia contact as I had with Big Sky Surplus.  Sometimes seems like those folks are just baiting us and then apparently enjoy "bugging" us by not responding.  Also, just wondering why your barrel has to be 40 m/m??? Does the bbl have to have a modern type 40 m/m chamber?? I do know that Big Sky did and probably still has some 20 m/m bbls as I did purchase one from them, in person,  at a Gun Show down in Albuquerque last year but as indicated earlier have had zero luck in making any further contact with them.  Cannon Mania will most likely NOT have any modern type 40 m/m bbls but hey, you never know. You can see what I did with my 20 m/m bbl if you'll look down further on this site for Blaster Bob's cannon pictures.
Blaster, out.

Blaster, the only reason I have for wanting a 40mm barrel is my shooting buddy has a 40mm and all the molds for round ball and projectile, so we can cast lead, things like that , will save me some money to start with.

Blaster, do you have a phone number for Big Sky? They have a 40 mm barrel also, but it is more money that the one from Cal. but I just want to get it so I can get started on my cannon.

Jim: here is the whole address/phone number for Big Sky Surplus.
Big Sky Surplus, LLC
3018 East Sinto
Spokane, WA 99202
(509) 535-9486 --their web site is www.bigskysurplus.com.
Good luck making contact with them.  I believe the chap who owns/operates the business is named Bob.  If you are able to make a connection with him, please tell him that the fellow who bought the 20 m/m bbl from him in Albuquerque last year is still trying to get hold of him and I now have that information that he asked for. I built a 20 m/m cannon (blackpowder type) with that barrel.  Thanks and good luck Jim.
