.375 H&H, First Results
« on: June 07, 2004, 04:12:48 PM »
Finally got my SS Reuger #1 to the range today. It's a great gun!

It zeroed in three rounds at twenty five yards and, at 100 yarda, within the first dozen rounds it was making nice little MOA cloverleafs with Winchester fail safes.

Best of all I survived the recoil. It was acceptable from the bench and promises to be even easier to take from field shooting positions. With my shoulder problems, this is great news for me, and bad for bigger game animals.

The Decelerator pad helped a lot and I woulkd not want to try the rifle in the original weapper with its wafer pad.

I had the same situation, Because i have a torn rotator cuff i have to be careful with the hard kickers. I put a triple web pad on my ruger # 1 plus a mercury coil and it calmed my 375 H&H down to where it is fun to shoot now. Funny thing, I have a 416 rem. mag. and it don't kick as hard as the 375, How can that be ? makes no sence to me. Have a good day oneb.

Hey joe I think you will find that the stocks differ between the two guns in question..I'm a big fan of the 375 H&H..It does kick some but I like the demensions of my Sako sporter stock..In 270 it is a joy to shoot..My six ft something buddy winces in pain after the second shot from that short stock..It fits me fine..I enjoy shoting it even after neck fusion surgury..I'm looking at converting that gun to 35 Whelan for moose Or getting a 375 H&H...let them roar !!!mike in ct
