End of Trail moved to New Mexico!!!
« on: May 19, 2004, 06:05:18 PM »
Well folks the End of Trail has been moved to about 2-3 miles from my house here in Edgewood NM. The SASS Bought a bit over 400 acres to build a permanent site out here. Now that the EoT will be so close I gues I better join up!!!, Lets see a 1863 NMA Remington, a 1866 Remington Revolving Carbine and a old frontstuffer shotgun. Think that will do it?!!:)

Found this over ta TOB! May be a little hitch in there get along.

I find this link very interesting. I think there was a fast talking salesperson working overtime on this one.

"In the first year of operation, the event will bring mainly shooting competitors from outside New Mexico, Amorosana said. He said the SASS expects no more than about 1,500 competitors for 2005." Better get on the guest list early!
"All weapons are of the single-action variety— requiring that the hammer be cocked prior to each shot. "These are not modern, high-powered weapons," Johnston said;"
I think somebody is comfused here. Like 45-70 is not high-powdered?
Oh and is my math correct 5M/1500=$33333.33 per competitor? I don't think so!
Good luck to the WB and SASS.

From the article linked too above:
Quote
It's the potential loss of their own Southwest culture that N.M. 217 residents say has them concerned.

HUH!?!?! Cowboys in New Mexico? What exactly do they think about cowboys is going is going to cause them to loose their SW culture :?

I kinda thought that Cowboys wuz a part of that culture!

That's because most of the $A$$ Cowboys are what we used to call "drug store cowboys", while the rural New Mexicans are pretty close to the genuine article, as the Wild Bunch are apt to find out if they continue their heavy-handed ways.

I'd be real careful about makin' generalizations like that, pard. Might/could git real costly..so to speak.

BTW, Heavy handed? Looks ta the rest of the world like SASS toed the line crossed the Ts and dotted the Is. Mebbe ya don' like it, but there it is. Make of it what ya will.

When you cut the distance by one-half, why do I think that there's going to be a WHOLE LOT of TEXAS SHOOTERS in New Mexico next year?

Let's see how many Texans took World Championships this year?  Hmmmm, might that number go up even more?

I'm not sure if it's the "loss of SW culture" that the residents are worried about..........being a New Mexican myself, although temporarily displaced, I'm more convinced it's the Tejanos

I am from the Midwest though getting closer each month to relocating out west. Where is the best place to find when/where SASS events are going to be here in the Midwest?

Bigjeepman,

Go to www.sass.net. and look at the 'Find a Cowboy Action Shooting Club near you' section.  You can see alot of information about clubs all over the country.

Take care and Good Shooting,
