From what I've been able to read- the older rifles had heavy triggers- but the newer models are much better.Somebody posted about the heavy trigger on the Topper, but reviews on newer models report good triggers.When did this change, or on what models?

My 223 Ultra came with a super trigger.

My 25-06 Ultra came with 60oz pull (3-3/4lbs) not excactly light. Honed the trigger to 24oz. Would like to have it a bit lighter yet. Next rainy spell I do it. Fred M.

My Ultra had a pull that was pretty heavy, but crisp with no take up. I sent it off and had H&R do a trigger job on it, now it's about 3 lbs, crisp with no take up.

I think it's still a luck of the draw deal, but would lean towards them being better than they were prior to Marlin's buyout. The trigger info from perklo that Duce posted in the FAQ section at the head of this forum, gave me the confidence to try the trigger job myself. The first one took a bit of time, but the next two went real easy. The .223 Ultra I did, now has a perfect lightweight varmint trigger.

The way to go man, how light did you get it. I know not everybody has a trigger scale. But a string looped around the trigger and a pound of sugar in a bag tied on the bottom of the loop will do it for a nice varmint trigger weight.
