Lakers were biting good
« on: June 03, 2004, 09:20:27 AM »
Went down on the Denali highway last week looking for Grizzlies.  Saw lots of bears but unable to get to where the big ones were due to deep snow drifts, and mud.  Some of the snow drifts were six and eight feet deep still.  Since we were in the area where you can't drive off the established trail we were unable to go around.  We spent four days fishing.  The Lake trout were ravinous in three differant lakes.  The ice had melted back about 15 to 30 yards around the edges.  They were biting everyting we put in front of them.  Spent two days watching a winter killed moose thinking a bear might find it.  Then the rains came.  What took us three hours going in, took eight hours to return to the truck.   Still had a wonderful time.

What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I'm jealous.  I spent 3 days at a soccer tournament in Anchorage.  No bears or lakers there.  Only traffic!
