Morning all.

I saw where some guy's were saying they only paid like 200.00 for the cz rifles, but the web site say's like 400.00, what gives?

I started squirrel hunting this year with my dad's stainless ruger bolt .22 and I love the gun, but I can't afford one that expensive. I wan't a good quality bolt gun, any suggestions?

Also anyone have experience with the single shot savage .22's. I love the looks of those guns but don't know how accurate they would be. can you mount scopes on them or perhap's a peep site?

As far as the retail prices listed on firearm websites or catalogs they are not anywhere close to real world prices for the most part. I bought my CZ Special in 2002 for $189 and it was listed substantially higher on their site.

Yep I paid $200 for my Ultra Lux last year. tuens out I got a great deal because the long barreled ones are kinda hard to find.

Big Buck Sports in Hattiesburg, MS sells the CZ452 Special for $195.00.
I got mine for $175.00 because it had a slight ding in the stock, just behind
the receiver due to a clerk, or someone at the factory, being a little careless sliding the bolt into the
receiver. You have to be careful.

Even if you have to pay the full retail of $241.00 I'd say they're worth
the price. With standard Winchester High Velocity 22's (X22LR) mine shoots a one hole group of less that 3/8" with iron sights and my eyes aren't near what they used to be.

I paid $209 for my special at Russell PA about a year ago...yup! I might have gotten it for less; but I saw it, handled it....welll you guys know the rest of the story....

I paid about $250 for a 452 ZKM Lux 22WMR. Worth every penny.

The dealer here sells the hardwood stocked one for $199 and the walnut one for $349.

I looked over several models yesterday----and the quality---as in fit and finish seems much improved over the ones I looked over about 6 months ago----I wouldn't have bought the older ones----but came real close to buying one yesterday.

CZ 452's in either American or Varmint, with the nice walnut stocks are $349-$389 around here. Just bought an American today for $349, with the walnut stock, and in .17HRM.

The difference in prices for the cz is the difference in the kind of stock you buy. The Walnut version is over $ 300. The hardwood version is under $ 200. and the Scout with hardwood stock is about $ 160. They all have the same actions. Price difference is where you buy it, but main price is what kind of stock you prefer. Mine is Walnut, also had a scout but sold it. Don Weathersbee

You should also check out a Savage MkIIG. They are pretty nice and they only cost about $130 or so. I am only getting 1.25 inch groups at 50 yards, but I have only tried 3 different types of ammo so far. I think I'll find one that groups under an inch.

I did an internet search before buying my American, and came up with a low price of $289, second lowest from my part of the country was $309. To that price, you add shipping, whatever the local FFL holder charges to receive the rifle, and probably a charge for them doing the government paperwork.
One of the internet gun sellers has a locator service on the website where you put in your zip code and get the nearest FFL holders and what they charge to receive the rifle for you. I found one that charges $10, plus an additional $9 for the paperwork. I contacted the local dealer and he said he could beat the prices I found by ordering as a dealer. I paid him $330 for the American which included shipping, his charge and the paperwork.
I might have got it for less, but the Americans I saw on gunshop racks here were going for $399, so I saved a few bucks. The other good thing was if the rifle was damaged somehow in shipment, the local dealer would have returned it for another at no extra charge.

$450 for a 452 FS in lr a year ago. Had to have that Mannlicher stock. Tracked down two left from the initial import of 300 in 2002 down in Georgia. Best .22 for the buck,period.

After a couple of trips to the range, and a replacement trigger spring. My CZ 452 has a 1.5 lb. trigger, and shoots under 1" at 100 yds!
I rarely go in for newer guns, as my first love is old rifles, but this gun is rapidly becoming one of my favorite shooters!
.17 hmr CCI ammo is on sale regularly here for $7-$8 a box, so it's easier to go through lots of it!

I have two CZ's and love them. A 452 Varmint in 22lr & 452 American in 17hmr. Wholesale on these is $300-310. After having my gunsmith work on the triggers they are truly sweet shooters. Get one with a walnut stock, they are very nice. The quality is remembered LONG after the price has been forgotten.

I bought a CZ 452 Varmint a few weeks ago and topped it with a Tasco 4-12 Scope that is parallax adj from 10 yds up. Took it to the range and after sighting in, it was shooting well under 1/2" 5-shot groups at 50 yds with Ely Tenex .22 LR. In each group, 4 of the shots were just one big hole!

I have since replaced the factory trigger spring with the lightest one from the Brooks kit and with the trigger adj nut set to minimum, the pull is about 8 oz. and there is no creep. I really am pleased with this rifle. Paid $350 for it at my local dealer here in New Jersey. Also, checked the barrel/stock and can easily slide a dollar bill all the way down.

I just ordered a single shot adapter from CZ and can't wait to get back to the range again. This time I'm going to see how it compares with my vintage Remington 40X target rifle, which, of course, is also very accurate.

I tried for a long time to make a good shooter out of my Ruger 77/22. Replaced the factory barrel with a Shilen and installed a Dayton/Traister trigger, but it would still not put 5 shots into 1/2" at 50 yds.

I bought one a number of years ago, I cut and recrowned the barrel to the legal minimum 16"' after reading an article showing that the velocity actually decreased after 16"'when shooting 22 LR ammunition.
Anyway, I have a 4X bushnel scope on it and it is deadly accurate.Cutting the barrel made it a very easily carried rifle , too.
