I use quite a bit of the AA2015BR. It is a great powder. I have a load for my 25-20 that really shoots. I used it in the 30-30 and 35 Rem and it shot alright. Out of my 35 whelen it really pushes that hunk of lead. My 200 grain load is going out at 2880FPS and my 225 grain load is going out at 2808FPS. It is like a laser death ray on deer! Give it a try, I think you will be happy with the it shoots.

GURN,If you don't like the results of the 2015 you might try reloader#7
for your 300gr barns x,, works for me, I load 55.3 grs #7 CCI 200 prim.
Getting 2200 ft.per sec. with good groups out of my marlin 95GG. I have found that the GG is not hard to please, I think you can burn about any thing in them and they do just fine. Good luck... Joe

I have used AA2015XMR (formerly BR) as my primary .45-70 powder for many years.  I get excellect (sub-inch) results with 300 gr HPs and 350 gr Noslers.   I have never had a reason to work with other powders in my 1895 - this one works too well!

I got a chance to shoot em. The 2015 shot good but not quit as good as the RL7 loads. I have had more time to work with the RL7 so a one time comparision is not a fair test. I'm sure if I fool with it, it will work great.

Joe, that sounds a little hot. The Barnes Manual has 49gr as max.

Gurn,
Yep, It might sound a little hot, But you must stop and think, With all the law suits going on it only makes sence that they are going to cover their butts and not go to extremes. To make my point go to one of the old Ideal loading hand books and compare it to the loads of today and you will find a world of diference. I just use a chart to get an idea of what they think and will use it to start a load, Then by watching my brass and
primer determine which way to go. Never had any to S.U. and i've been at it for many years,,, Longer than i would like to admit. I do use a chronograph some so have a pretty good idea what the load is doing.
You are right, Its a hot load, But in the short barrel of a guide gun its not
going to hurt any thing, Thanks for bringing it to my attention.. Have a good day and stay safe..............Joe..................................................
