110 gr cast bullets in 308/greendot??

shooters,  im a longer range range jacket bullet target shooter wanting to try cast bullets for 100/200 yard. i have a box of 110gr  30 cal and want to try loading for 308 rifle.  some study suggests that green dot may be a best powder choice?? or would something else be better?? unique, blue dot?

is red dot too hot??

what would be a good starting range for green dot or another powder??  seems like i once read 18 was about the right load with green dot so would about 15 grains  be a starting load??

You don't say what hardness, diameter, gaschecked or not, lube, etc. these bullets are you have. But assuming worst case - factory made, commercial lube, no gascheck, I'd start with about 7.0gr. of Green Dot and work up a half grain at a time until accuracy went away. They'll probably max out around 1400-1500 fps in a good barrel. If they're gaschecked and fit your rifle's throat, you might get away with loads as much as maybe 13 or 14 grains, but pay attention to pressure signs when you start approaching 1800 fps or so with this fast powder.  Just for reference, I use 6.0 Green Dot in my .223 with 55gr. cast bullets at 1800 fps, and 4.5gr. in the 7.62X39 with 115gr. 32-20 bullets at 1200 fps. As for Red Dot, I usually load it .5 grain (one half) less than Green for the same speed. They're very close to the same in most rifle cartridges.

this is the worst case scenario i guess for 308  diameter factory cast/lubed bullets and no gas check.

glad i asked about the green dot.  i would have blown myself up starting at 15!

just to play with the process i went yesterday and loaded a little ladder test up using 30.0 to 31.8 grains of blc-2. i chose 30 grains to keep velocity down to <1800 hopefully.  used up what i loaded trying to get the scope set right on a new scope set up. they grouped into 2" at 50 yrds.

i will get some greendot and experiment
