209x50 receiver sight

I recently acquired a 209x50 barrel for my Encore.  Since I will be hunting in a state that does not allow the use of scopes, I installed the Williams receiver sight (WGS) for the Encore.  When I went to the range on Saturday I found that using a standard hunting load (100gr 777 and 240 gr TC sabot bullet) I did not have enough elevation adjustment!  With the sight at its lowest setting this load was shooting 6" high at 100 yds.  Has anyone else had this problem?  Anyone know where I can get a higher front sight ramp for the 209x50?

Very common. I had the problem, and more than a couple just on this board have. Go to http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/GunTech/sight.aspx , than to their online sight calculator. Follow the promps, then order the new front post and or ramp from them. I order some parts Monday night on line and got them Thursday in the mail. Good people!

I called TC customer support this morning and explained my problem with the front sight being too short for the WGRS sight.  The lady in customer support put me through to the gunsmithing department.  The gentleman in the gunsmithing department seemed surprised when I explained my problem - he asked me to hold on when he understood my issue.  He came back on and verified that the gun was shooting high - when I assured him that is was he said he would send me out a new front sight of the correct height.  On the one hand, I am gratified at the prompt and helpful customer support (assuming he actually sends the part).  On the other hand, I am surprised that this problem with an accessory listed on the TC website was such a surprise to the gunsmithing department.

You will get it in short order.  I recently had a problem with a 45-70 pistol barrel that I could not sight in.  Called and talked to a smith at T/C, he decided what I needed and I had it in about 3-4 days, in good ol central Indiana.

I've ALWAYS had this problem on every muzzleloader I've tried aperture sights.  That includes an Omega, White 98, and an Austin & Halleck 420.  It's a common problem.  Hard to believe T/C service rep hadn't heard of it.  At least they ARE helping you out!

The new front sight arrived in yesterday's mail.  It is just like the original sight but about 0.3" taller (have not measured yet).  It apperars to be just the thing I needed.  I went to install it last night and could not find the screw to attach the sight to the barrel!  Anyone know where I can get another screw?
