Buzz, not sure exactly how they are handled. But if you have some, they are like gold right now.We do not have a spring season on rats, but at times a very late caught male will already have them enlarged. At this time I just remove them and freeze them.

Sign me up Buzz. I need a 1/2 pint of them, and can't seem to find them anywhere.

To properly put up rat glands  you put a layer of rat glands in wide mouth jar  or what you are using and  put a thin layer of salt over then and then add another layer of glands layer of salt  on those and so on till your done.  Some people dry them and then store in air tight jar or in freezer dry or green.   I  buy mine from a alaskan trapper that  drys them and  once  reconstituted with a certain liquid they work  just fine and smell like fresh ones.

Buzz,

What I do know is if you have rat gland you can sell them for some GOOD money.  The only way I can get them legally is if I have a rat damage job in the spring.

I've been buying large amounts from several trappers for many years.  Some freeze them and ship them 2 day but most come packed in mason jars packed in layers of salt.  Either way is satisfactory.  I use the pure amber musk oil in my muskrat lures and grind the pods for use in canine, bobcat and mink lures. In my opinion, muskrat musk/glands the best ingredient one can use in a variety of lures to ensure animal response.  Ace
