Nampa Rod and Gun Club held its June Cowboy Silhouette match Saturday afternoon.  I won my first back-to-back wins in those matches.

I got a 37/40 in the Pistol Cartridge, Cowboy rifle.  I missed one chicken, one turkey and one ram.  I started the match as a AA shooter and ended as a AAA shooter with one leg in master.  I used a Rossi 92 in 357 mag.  The load was 166gr lee cast swc over 5gr of Bullseye and a CCI 400 primer and R-P brass.  The rifle has a Redfield sight.

In the Small Bore Cowboy Rifle I got a 34/40 using a Marlin 39A with a Williams FP rear sight and a Lyman Globe front sight.  Ammo was CCI Blazer.  The next highest score was a 33 and two guys got 31s for a shootoff.  I have been getting solid AAA scores in this event for about three years now.

I know this is tooting my own horn but I have been telling everyone who will listen.  Shooting silhouettes has got to be one of the funnest things to do.

My dad says "If you don't toot your own horn, nobody's gonna do it for ya!"  Regardless, that's some good shootin'.  I've been working on upgrading the sights on my own rifles so maybe soon I'll be right there with you.  I've been shooting low to mid 30's with stock sights on my Marlin 39a (at IHMSA smallbore targets & distances), but I've recently got a Marbles tang peep.  I put a Lyman 17a on my Puma .357 and will venture out to a shoot July 10th after posting a 32 during a practice session while still using the stumpy little front post that came with the rifle.  Congrats on the score and hopefully you'll make Master class soon!
