What's the turnaround time like for TC repairs made by the factory? Thanks.

I sent the faulty 24" .270 barrel back to T/C the end of March.
I called them yesterday (May 12) and was told it would be at least another 3 weeks.
They had it for just under two months the first time. It looks like they will have it longer this time.
If you are setting up a new factory barrel for hunting next season I suggest you begin the process now.
There IS a chance you could get a faulty one, and the turnaround IS incredibly slow.

Within the past few weeks I had returned a broken Contender trigger guard assembly. It seems like they had it for about a day or so and then send back a new replacement.

If I remember correctly they had my .223 Encore barrel for about 6 weeks. Had faulty scope base holes and they ended up replacing the whole barrel. Still haven't shot it yet to see how she does.

My only other Encore barrel is the heavy factory 26" in .223.
I mounted a Winchester 6X20X50 scope on it. It's probably the best shooting rifle I've ever owned. It consistantly does sub half inch groups at 100 yards with S&B FMJ factory ammo if I do my part.
I think I paid $3.50 per box of 20 for the S&B ammo. I don't think I can beat what I'm getting now with handloads.
Cheap, great fun. :grin:
I hope your new barrel is also a shooter.
I'd clean it before you shoot it the first time and break it in conservatively the first 100 shots.
The .223 is very accurate cartdridge.

My .270 barrel arrived at my door last Thursday. T/C had replaced it and sent a note that it shot 1" groups with Winchester ammo. The lid from the ammo box was taped to the hand written note.
Sure enough, I managed 1 1/4- 1 1/2" groups @ 100 yards at the range last weekend. I'm very pleased with it.
A poor-shooting barrel will drive you nuts. Trying different kinds of ammo and loads and getting nowhere did indeed drive me crazy.

The repair/replacement adventure seems like its been going on for a long time. In fact, the Encore with the .270 barrel was initailly purchased in early December and returned the first time in January.
Everything turned out quite well in the long run. I now have a shooter that I have confidence in.
What seems strange is I have already removed the barrel and placed it in storage until next deer season.
Back to shooting the .223 barrel.

I returned a .300 Winchester Magnum barrel to T/C five weeks ago, with a note explaining the problem I had been having with stringing.

My new barrel came today.

I just sent them a frame for repair. They got it on June 7. I'll let everyone know when I get it back.

See above. Got the frame back today. Not only did they fix the problem,
they put a new style hammer on it (instead of the cross bolt safety type) and changed it from the front pivot pin to the easy open mid pivot pin at no cost and paid the return shipping. What service! I'll keep buying T/C.

I wonder why it takes longer when it comes to servicing barrels?
