Marlin 1984PG

I just saw a marlin 1894 with a pistol grip and 20 inch barrel instead of the straigh stock. I bet this is better for using a scope.  Anyone have one? Jimmyp

I've got one.  Just bought it last year.

I shot it with the factory sights, but recently put a Weaver mount on it with a Burris red dot.  Now I'm thinking of getting some Quick Release Mounts and an ATN 2x6x40 lighted reticle scope.  And eventualy, maybe even an ATN first generation night vision scope to go hog hunting with.

yeah, I can't make up my mind....

But I really like the look of the 1894CB in Colt 45.   I wouldn't put a scope on it though, but maybe install a Williams FP receiver sight.

Joe,

How  did that red-dot work on the 1894?

Red Dot Results

Technically, the red dot works fine.  Functionally, I've come to the conclusion that I like to have at least some magnification through my scope.  Especially for range work and testing my handloads.  I haven't hunted yet with the red dot, so I can't comment on how well I can see the target under low light conditions.

The Burris Red dot comes with Weaver Style mounts so its pretty easy to take on and off.  I'm looking into getting another scope for range work though.
