Question for Randy, or Knight Elite Owners ?
« on: June 26, 2004, 04:14:07 AM »
I've noticed that the Free Floating Barrel on my Elite, is not permitting a Sheet of Paper, to pass the Front Edge of the Stock. The Paper will pass, all the way to the Lug, after getting past the Front Leading Edge of the Forend. Would it be advantageous, for me to remove the Little bit of material, to allow the System to be completely Free Floated, or should I just let the Forend Pinch on the Front of the Barrel ? Your Thoughts are appreciated !

Been there, done that.  DON'T do it!  That rifle SHOULD shoot fine as is.

Randy, It shoots decent enough, but i've noticed that im getting some Flyers in my groups, more than usual lately. Thought that the Conicals, might have Leaded up the Grooves, so I JB" it, to remove that from the Suspision List. Was using a Bushnell Dusk to Dawn, on Weaver Tip off Mounts, and everything is tight. Just upgraded to a Elite 3200, so ill give that a try, as soon as my Trigger returns from Knight. maybe im expecting Match Grade Accuracy, from a Good Shooter as is, minus the Flyers?

Can't say for sure-- but "tip-off" mounts have not been a good choice for me.

Contingent on what exactly your level of stock fit issue is-- Knight might replace it for you.

Im, at time's, questioning the Validity of the Tip Off Rings, for a Muzzle Loader. They work Great on my Rem 40 X, but at half of the Recoil of the ML. Several of the Scopes, that have adorned the top, of my ML, have shown a pattern of POI change, after it has been dialed in. It just may be the Mount's ? maybe a leopold QRM, may be the way to go, to eliminate that also. Things to think about! Thank's !

Why in the world would you put Weaver Tip-Off rings/bases on a 40X?

For your Disc Elite, nothing beats the Warne Maxima QD rings/bases.

Chuck, because at the time that I mounted my Scope, they were all that I had available to shoot with. They have been doing a great job, so I never changed them out. These are not Hinged Tip Off's, they leave the Bases completely, with the Big Thumb Screws on the Clasp side of the Rings. They have been in use for several decade's, with many Critters to their credit.

Here is the style that im using. Mabey Easily Removable , is  better, then Tip Off.
