Breach plugs

Hi all, I was thinking, if you thread and pin and then weld your breach plug in, you have welded on the out side, so can the gases get in around the threads in your breach and cause rust. and if so what do you do abut it?

That's why I say don't weld a threaded plug pin it.  Make it just like a giant breech plug in a muzzleloading rifle.  Make a spanner of some sort to take the plug out for inspection. I make the plug in the form of the Breech, Breech ring and cascable.  The inner portion of the plug fits onto the barrel across the end of the bore.  I used this method for seamless tubing and rifled barrels like 40mm.

If you look at The N-SSSA rules for  Artillery rule 14.2 describes how a weldded plug is made.  That plug is sweated in place then welded.  That is for a liner inside a cast gun.
