Single Six Hunter, again
« on: June 25, 2004, 06:25:12 AM »
Just wondering if I could get an update on the new Single Six Hunter.  How does it feel in comparison to a 5.5" model?  How is the accuracy (group measurements would be nice).  How do you like the iron sights?  I'm considering getting one soon, but have never picked one up.  Mmmm, now if I could just decide which one to get...17 HMR or 22lr/Mag!!!

To me the whole idea of the Single Six is the versatility of changing cylinders.   With that in mine I would go with the .22LR/.22Mag.   There are just too many better guns to use for the .17HMR unless you are just after the style of the Single Six.

I went to the dealer to get a price quote on one and he happened to have it in the showcase, so i decided to bring it home today. It is the 22 cal. model.  I will not be able to shoot it until tommorrow.  The barrel is heavier than the standard model, and the gun feels really good in my hand. I can't wait to shoot it.

Good for you!  I'm been planning on getting one since I first heard about them back in Nov.  just keep finding other "nneds" though.   Money for next purchase in in wallent now and just deciding.  It may well be the .22 Hunter.
Fortuneatly, I can buy at cost,  but I'm curious what the price is up in your area.  I do know that prices down on Long Island can be outrageous - at least those I've seen have been.

Concerning the .17 Hunter...  I wouldn't be surprised to see a .17 convertable Hunter sometime soon from Ruger.
