This was brought up (IIRC by Zander) and voted on at the HP competitors' meeting at the last nats held at Raton. The meeting was 'chaired' by a senior official from HQ (I forget who) who was passing through on a business trip and was enroute back to Sodom-on-Poltomac.
More than 75% of the votes were for reverting to the old rule and eliminating the requirement to load detachable mags after the ready command.
The vote was, apparently, ignored...
I don't really care about the rule (I can live with either version, the reasonable one or the silly one) but I do find it annoying that a small group of whiners -- maybe few enough that they don't even qualify for the term 'group' -- was allowed to pee on the shoes of the majority...and get away with it.
