Grey-Star Cannon Barrels
« on: June 26, 2004, 07:32:31 PM »
Was over at Grey-Star Cannon Barrels and developed a real case of the wants for their 1/3rd scale 6 pounder barrel.  It's a 1" bore, 23" long and weighs 35 pounds.  Cast ductile iron with a steel liner.  Any of you have experience with this barrel?  Or any of their barrels?  Would sure appreciate your opinions.  http://greystarcannontech.homestead.com/star.html

I have one of there  1/2 scale barrels . Shoots fine no problems. I think they are a good value. I just may get one of the 1/3 scale barrels also.

Waiting to hear back from Grey-Star.... sent them an e-mail yesterday.  I find it interesting that their web site gives no phone number nor any indication of where they are physically located.  Will be ordering that 1/3rd scale barrel and probably building my own naval carriage.

When I posted Grey-Star on our resource list I noted the lackof a location also.

Hern Iron works also has tubes and they are west coast.  they are also listed on our resource list.

Yes, I had gone through all of the links including Hern.  Gray-Star was the only one that I can afford at this time.  Even at that I will have to order the barrel this month and then the carriage next month.  Their 1/3rd scale 6 pounder with a 1" bore certainly is on the smaller end of the scale but it should satisfy my longstanding case of the "I wants".

i ended up selling this one a couple of weeks ago.
this is the carriage that i built for my greystar 1/3
scale. i will probably purchase a 1/2 scale from
them in the near future.
