Anyone used a game finder to track down or hunt deer and hogs?
Cabelas has one for sell and I was wondering if they were junk or the real thing.  Let me know, thanks

My hunti'n buddys father tried one.  He said he did not like it, but I believe its intent is to find game that has already been killed and is stationary.  Sort of like a bloodhound for your palm.
But I could be wrong.

I have one and it works to an extent. It picks up hot spots. If the sun is out and you point it at a tree that has been heated by the sun it will indicate the hot spot. When my son was in a tree stand about 50 yards away from me I picked up his heat signature. If the game is moving you will not find them. It works but it is sensitive and you have to keep it in motion back and fourth to pick up heat from downed animals. If the animal sits over night you will not pick it up due to the body temp being to cold.
Hope this helped.

I have not used one but I noticed they have a bunch of them in the "bargain cave" at Cabelas in Dundee, MI. This is where they sell all the items that have been returned or damaged. I asked the man there why they have so many and if they work. He said they really only work well at very low temperatures below freezing and then only just after the animal is down. I suspect that many were disapointed with their usefulness, and hence all the returns.
