My last hog

This is the latest hog i got. I got it with a bow on the ground at 12 yards. I just figured out how to post pictures, so i wanted to share this one- Thanks, Tad :D

now  that  is  a  great  bow  trophy  what  type  of  equipment  were  you using/  arrows   bow  etc/  i  used to  bowhunt hogs  and am  soon  to  get  back into it  and  12  yards  from  that  tusker  ,  i  am  sure  your  adrenaline was pumping

I see the blood near his right flank but none near the "boiler room".  Can you tell us where the arrow entered and if it exited.

Thats a very good question Dusty. Bad news- good news kinda thing. Bad news is i hit him back cause he took a step as i released, good news is i was using a buckblaster and caught the artery that runs just under the spine [ buckblasters have a 2 3/4" cutting diameter]. If i woulda hit the pig where i was aiming, the mud would have stopped the arrow, not to mention the shield. This is not the first time blasters have saved the day for me. This boar went about 40 yards and expired.
Howie, the bow is a Mathews LX, arrows are Beeman ics 340s, rest is whisker biscut, broadheads are Buckblasters, thunderheads and muzzy 4 blade- all in 125 gr., truefire release, string loop, kisser button. Bow weight is at about 65 lbs. And yes my adrenaline was certainly pumping!!!     Tad :D

Sounds  like  a  good  set-up  i also like whisker bisquits  ill  be  getting  me  another  bow  soon  and  looking  very  heavuily  at several  different  bows i  am a lefty so  that  narrows  my choices  somewhat  back  when  i  shot   3-D  alot  i had  a  martin Pantera  that  was  the  first  bow  i  have  ever  seen  hit  300 plus  i  was  using  ACC arrows  and  i  took  alot  of  hogs  with  that,  i  also  used  the  buck blasters  and  one  time i s tuck  a  hog  in  the  skull  and  it  penetrated  over 7 inches,  when  we  were hunting along  the  red  river  one  of  our  favorite  aiming placesd  was  the  neck dropped  them  like  a  bulltet  would

Tad,
Nice Hog!  Do you have any luck re-using the buckblasters?  I used to use them on deer.  They were very effective with the 2 3/4" diameter but every time I used one it was pretty much trash.  The blades are very thin and bend easily (I guess they have to be thin to have 6 blades on a 125 gr head) and the ferrel and tip often got bent making the whole thing trash.  I could usually salvage parts and after a while rebuild a few heads but I stopped using them because they were pretty much disposable broadheads for me.  Just wanted to see if your experience with them is any different.

Pretty much the same, one shot deal with a few rebuilds. To me its worth $7 to get LOTS of blood on the ground. And they have really saved the day more than once. They arnt for long shots, but the thunder heads and the muzzys pretty much match POI. Sight in with the thunder heads out to 40 yards, and the blasters are good out to 25. I used to use tracking string, but not with blasters- plenty of blood to follow! Happy Hunting- Tad :D                    
P.S. If you want to see a really cool picture of a blaster lodged in a big boars spine, i'll email it to ya- a little too graphic to post on line i think.

Tad,
Those blasters do leave a good blood trail.  Luckily I never really needed the trail the farthest I had a deer go after being hit with a blaster was 35 yards.  The first deer I shot with one jumped at the shot and side stepped then just looked around like what was that.  I was scratching my head because I knew I hit him, he then walked about 10 feet and fell over dead.  I was impressed with the performance just wasn't happy with the one shot then replace the head deal.  I'd love to see that picture you can email it to : alpo914@earthlink.net
