Firearm cleaning/lube products
« on: August 02, 2004, 04:27:22 PM »
I have several products on hand but don't really have a grasp on the differences. What is the best product? I have the following on hand:
Breakfree, Triflow, Militec
Anyone really know how these work?

I've used lubricant products from all these but clean especially bores with other products.  I use either ShootersChoice or Hoppes#9 as a powder solvent. Just to remove the powder fouling in the bore. They also clean grunge from the action and other mechanisms.  For quick and thorough cleaning of actions and triggers etc. I use spray bore cleaner, the cheap stuff from WalMart.. For high pressure applications and when I want the lube to stay put I use grease. I've tried several synthetic greases with teflon and like the all..also a graphite of molly suspension like Loc-Eze will work well especially in situations where oil or grease attracts too much fouling.  As a light oil I've switched to automobile automatic transmission fluid.
