JPH, I have the Lee Shooter, and the reduced load Calculator. Works fine! For the average shooter, and the price you cant go wrong. I have run ballistic profiles (Identical) on Lee, and Barnes software. Guess What? Same results. Just my 2 cents worth.....

I use a Freeware program called Pointblank. I have checked the ballistic tables against the tables in Hornady's volume 2 and they check out the same. I have almost bought the Lee program a couple of times. I may still get it.

JP,
I looked for that program at Cabelas yesterday, but they didn't have any of the programs there. The only one I could find was a used Sierra in their bargain cave, for $59.00. Not much of a bargain there.

I will be able to tell you about it in a couple of days. I ordered it from Midway on Monday. It will be here tomorrow. I used my Birthday discount and got several things that I have been looking at including a Chrony. I got the F1 Standard, with the sale price and my discount it was only 64.99. I am looking forward to checking it out.

rmtaylor, that is the same Chrony I have, the same one I had back in the late eighties and I bet the same one that most folks have. If your computer system is a Microsoft version, I bet that you have the math for doing averages and standard deviations already. That is what I use, no use spending money on a small computer do do this when you big one will. that Chrony will change your reloading life, I guarantee. Please let me know what you thik of the Lee software. Thanks, JP

JPH45,

I received the Lee Software yesterday and had a little while to check it out. The Calculators are really good.
Calculators

This group contains all ballistic calculators.  These consist of:

·   Rise and Drop
·   Sectional Density
·   Minimum Twist
·   "Quick" Energy
·   Ballistic Coefficients
·   Reduced Load
·   Recoil for Bullet and Shot shell
·   Cost of reloading for Handgun, Rifle and Shot shell
·   Lee Perfect Powder Measure settings

The reloading log and Ballistic part is not as good as PointBlank. So I guess it depends on what you are going to to with it.
If I might suggest go to:

http://www.huntingnut.com/

The software is Freeware and I like the load history and ballistics interface much better. It also has a target for each load that you can "click in you shots from the range on a grid to save with a particular load.

Thanks rm, I think I had a version of pointblank at one time, but I'll go back and check it out again. It sounds like most of what I use can be found online, I really like the external ballistics calculator at www.realguns.com You can plug in your own figures for a bullet (useful for cast) or just find the bullet you are using in the data base. My record keeping consists of keeping my paper targets with the data on them, that way I know exactly what I got. Left a few notes and my memory alone, I'm not sure that I would load a pop gun. Thanks again, JP
