I have always thought the old Mossbergs were under rated. I'm sure you have check other web sites for information. I would imagine the Mossberg would not have much trade-in value. I purchased a model 46B with peep and regular sights at gun show for $50.00. Have you thought about Savage, CZ, Marlin or other more popular rimfires. I have really got hooked on CZ, can't beat them for the money and are very popular. The old Winchesters prices are doing better than the stock market. And, you can never go wrong with the reliable Ruger 10/22. Sorry..I did everything but answer you question...but the Mossberg would not be my choice.

I hunt squirrels with a 1969 Mossberg bolt action .22 lr. It's still very accurate, and has a better trigger that my previous main .22, a Marlin. I didn't know Wally World carried Mossberg rifles.
I think they were made pretty well, and a lot of them are still out there working.

My opinion and experience.
