How do you know which forearms stocks go with which barrels

How do you know which forearm goes with which barrel lengths?

I have been told that there are different forearms for the different pistol barrels based on length. Is this true with carbine barrels, rifle barrels and shotgun barrels? Is there a table some where? Which forarm do I need for a 23 inch 45/70 barrel?

I sorry if this is redundant, I ran out of ideas to search.

For the Encore Rifle there are 3 different forearms. One for the Rifle, one of the shotgun and one for the muzzleloader. All rifle barrels take the same forearm except the Katahdin Carbine. Here is a like for you. http://www.tcarms.com/encrifle/stocksnforends.php

I'm sorry. I should have specified that I was talking about he older Contender model. Does this make any difference to the response?

 Yep.. Ten inch round barrels take a short fore arm with one hole.. Octagon ones a special one similar.. The 14 incher bull barrel takes a fore arm with two holes the first of which is spaced out like the 10 inch one.. You can put the 10 inch one on a Super 14 with one screw.  Carbine barrels depend on 16 in 0r 21 in tapered or straight and the tapered 21 inchers have one hole maybe.. Sometimes two.. The carbine bull barrels have a longer foreend than the 14 inch bull and two screw holes. Clear as mud yet?? Now if you go Custom Barrels from Bullberry or Virgin Valley, they use a hanger bar system and you can get one foreend to fit all bull barrels from 10 inch to 24 inch ones. They specify 14 inch or carbine length screw spacing as the hanger bars are available for both spacings.. cbagman

A related question-
when I tried to put my Rynite carbine forearm on my Super 14 barrel (w/ 2" extension), the front screw hole was about 1/4" off.  I tried relieving the boss slightly in the forearm, but there was still contact, & I didn't want it putting pressure on the barrel, so I just drifted out the dovetail & only used the one screw.  Will I have any problems doing it this way?

Also- has anyone had any experience with the barrel extensions- assuming it was welded on properly, once it's sighted in it shouldn't affect anything further, correct?  Has anyone done a before & after to see how the original & extended barrels compare accuracy-wise?

Renaldo, never stop asking questions.  There are never any stupid questions, ever.  Even old timers get new info from time to time.  

I just purchased a new T/C Encore 209 50 cal. and didn't know that the forends where different from this gun and the rifle.  Now I got to go out and get a new forend with that new 30-06 barrel I want to get.   :lol:
