aluminum weaver bases

has anyone ever had a problem with stretching or bending with their weaver bases. i was told i should probably not buy them for my 209x50 because they are made of aluminum and susceptible to bending with the recoil. just wanna hear your thoughts..

John John,
I have never had a problem with the weaver rings, Thats not to say that you won't. The biggest thing i've had them on was a 375 JDJ and a 357 Herret. But i was loading them hot and nothing ever changed. Maybe some one will come on and let you know what they have found.

Nearly all my Contender barrels wear Weaver style aluminum bases and rings - never a problem.

I have one a 15" .308 and a 26" 209X50 and haven't had any trouble with either. For the money, they are pretty hard to beat.  Just be sure to clean the gunk out of the mounting holes in the barrel so you can get good thread contact and don't bottom out before everything is tight.  Use some blue loc-tite and you're good to go.

I have to agree with Chris. They are the only ones I use also on my Encore and Contenders.

For the really heavy kickers you may want to have two extra holes drilled and tapped in the barrel...then use the same base (I think it is Weaver 92A) drilled for 6 screws and that allows for three rings if you need.

I agree with skb2706, I always add at least one extra hole forward of the others for more stability.  KN
